W. Fred Allen, Jr. is an estate planning and business attorney who was born in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in Kalamazoo. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Duke University and was awarded his Juris Doctor Degree from Wayne State University.
Upon graduation from law school in 1967, Fred returned to his hometown where he has practiced in downtown Kalamazoo throughout his career. Although thirty-plus years of practice have given him experiences in several areas of the law, Fred now receives his greatest satisfaction in helping clients plan their estates and in counseling entrepreneurs regarding the legal affairs of their businesses. Fred has been applauded both for his attention to each client’s own unique circumstances and wishes, and for his ability to explain, with an understandable, common sense approach, the choices which are available to accomplish the client’s objectives.
He is a member of the American, Michigan and Kalamazoo County Bar Associations.
Throughout his years of practice, Fred has devoted significant time as Director, Trustee or Officer of many worthy Kalamazoo institutions including the First United Methodist Church, the Y.M.C.A., United Way, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Family and Children’s Services, Goodwill Industries, Senior Services and the Bronson Health Foundation. He is proud to have been one of the founding Directors of the National Meals-On-Wheels Foundation.
